ABOUT ME

My name is Zoe and I am an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP. Being integrative means I draw on more than one theory to work with your areas of needs and expectations. I lean towards what are known as humanistic approaches. These hold the belief that you are the expert of your own life and it is my job to work with you to enable you to process and work through events in your life to be able to live life more fully. I believe in taking a collaborative approach and the power of the relationship we create within the counselling setting, so provide a non-judgemental, supportive, encouraging environment to allow you to open up as much as you feel comfortable to. Please see my ‘About Therapy’ page for further information on how I work.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in Higher Education (level 5) in Theology and Counselling. I have experience working with clients through the NHS IAPTs system, low cost counselling centres and in private practice. I work across a range of issues including but not exclusively depression, anxiety, work-related stress, loneliness, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss. I have a special interest in trauma, abuse, cultural issues and working with faith/belief. Prior to training to be a counsellor, I worked as a teacher in Asia. Alongside my counselling work, I have also worked in offering private tutoring to students struggling at school, and in administration within a religious institution. All of these experiences contribute to my counselling roles and means I have had the pleasure of walking alongside those from a diverse range of backgrounds.
